Take a look at performance tests for the new iMac 2020
After more than a year, Apple last week upgraded its iMac by giving it the latest processors from Intel, and the SSD storage that has more speed and efficiency, as well as upgrading the quality and resolution of the webcam so that it now has 1080p resolution.
So the question is, is the new iMac worth the upgrade to? It turns out to be so, at least according to various performance tests. In a video posted on YouTube by Max Yuryev, he tested the iMac 2019 equipped with the Intel Core i9 processor with the iMac 2020 equipped with the Intel Core i7 processor, and the first computer scored 8292 points in the multi-core test, while the second computer scored 9741 points in The same test.
Since the majority of people cannot buy the expensive models, Macotakara has also conducted its own tests on models equipped with Intel Core i5 processors, and iMac 2019 scored 5100 points, while iMac 2020 scored 5688 points. This represents a significant performance upgrade, so if you're thinking of getting the new iMac, it looks like it's worth it.
However, it should be taken into mind that the new iMac could be one of the last iMac computers to be equipped with Intel processors, because Apple will gradually stop using Intel processors in its computers and will instead use its own processors based on the ARM architecture. If you're not in a hurry to upgrade, it might be worth sitting and waiting to see what Apple is preparing.
