Blocking WeChat app by the US government could bring very bad news to Apple
In addition to blocking TikTok, the US government recently announced that it will block WeChat. This is according to an executive order signed by US President Donald Trump that is effectively barring US individuals and companies from interacting with these apps.
This will undoubtedly have a negative impact on the users and Tencent behind WeChat, but it also appears that it could have a negative impact on US companies like Apple as well. This is because it has been suggested that the WeChat ban would force Apple to remove the app from its App Store, which could lead to a drop in iPhone sales.
This is according to a survey conducted by a Chinese financial media, where based on the survey results, it appears that 678,000 Chinese users have confirmed that they will buy a different phone if WeChat is no longer available on the iOS platform, and other 38,600 users said they will simply uninstall the app.
WeChat is an important app in China and elsewhere in Asia. This is due to the versatility of the application, it not only allows users to chat with each other, it also allows them to make voice and video calls, make purchases, in addition to sending and receiving money. In China, the app is also very important as many people depend on it to pay bills, buy train tickets, etc., which means that losing WeChat could cause great disruption in the daily life of many users.
