Google added a new feature called: “Hum to Search” to its search tools. The feature allows you to humming or sing the song that's stuck in your head for 15 seconds, then use machine learning techniques to try to identify it.

Google said: We know how frustrated you feel when you do not remember the name of a song or any of the words, while the melody is still stuck in your head, and the new feature can now help you discover this, as there is no need for the lyrics, the artist name, or the perfect sound.

This feature relies on music recognition technology developed by the artificial intelligence research team, and Google launched the Now Playing feature for Pixel 2 phones in 2017, using deep neural networks to recognize music.

In 2018, the company introduced the same technology to the (SoundSearch) feature in the Google app, and expanded access to a list of millions of songs.

The new feature is available in the Google app on both Android and iOS, or in the Google Smart Assistant - just ask Google, "What's the song?" Or click the newly added "Search for a Song" button, then hum the song.

Google will then show you the results based on the likelihood of a match, and then you'll be able to click on the results to hear them, just as you would any other song you searched for in Google.

Google says: The feature works by using its own machine learning models; To convert the audio into a number-based sequence that represents the melody of the song, so that it can then be compared to the existing songs.

The search giant explains that it trained these models through a variety of sources, including the singing, whistling or humming, in addition to real studio recordings.

Google's algorithms can strip things like musical instruments and the tone of a singer to focus on only that number sequence in the song matching process.

And the humming feature - announced by Google along with many other search-related features during the Search On event - should work with different voices, regardless of whether the user has an optimal tone.

According to Google, people ask Google about the song that plays nearly 100 million times every month.

The new humming to search feature is available in English via the iOS operating system and in more than 20 languages ​​via Android, with plans to add more in the future.
