New Instagram update to merge Instagram and messenger chats

More than a year ago, Facebook announced its plan to merge Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger conversations into a single application, and the initial signs of this endeavor are beginning to appear, as the recent update of the Instagram application brings with it major fixes to the direct message feature.

Users of the Instagram app on Android and iOS platforms in the USA recieved an update telling them that they can send messages to their Facebook friends through the Instagram app even if they do not have an Instagram account.  This update also makes Direct Messages more colorful, making it in line with the design language currently used in Facebook Messenger.

Moreover, in the new update, the icon in the upper-right corner of the Instagram application has also been replaced by the Facebook Messenger logo.  Generally, this is the first change that appeared as part of Facebook's plans to integrate its chat services, and this means that there is a possibility that more changes will appear in the future, so keep an eye out for it.
