Huawei is working on a battery that can be charged to 48% in just 5 minutes

So you can have a lot of airtime in just 5 minutes. The only trouble is that it is still only a prototype.

Despite all the research done, no manufacturer has yet found a way to offer mobile with more autonomy, without sacrificing design (aka use batteries of 10,000 mAh). So, failing to build batteries that would take one week without being huge, manufacturers are seeking ways to allow consumers to charge devices faster that at least, this chore is not too painful.

The manufacturer of components for Qualcomm phones for example, announced a few weeks ago that the Quick Charge Technology 3.0, available as an option for builders on some of its SoC, is capable of accelerating battery charging phones so the user has 80% of load in the course of 35 minutes.

And also, the Chinese Huawei also has to demonstrate a prototype (a 3000 mAh battery) that can be charged to 48% in 5 minutes, during an event held in Japan.

As explained by the Computer World site, this is a lithium ion battery. But by linking carbon graphite anode, the Chinese company (or rather its subsidiary Watt Lab) can accelerate the charging without sacrificing battery capacity nor its lifetime.

The approach is so different from the one that Qualcomm, with its Quick Charge technology, uses an algorithm to "determine what level of power at some point seek to achieve optimal power transfer while maximizing efficiency. "

Moreover, unlike the technology QuickCharge that will be available on some mobile using the Snapdragon SoC 820, 620, 618, 617 and 430, the super battery Huawei is still only a prototype. And the Chinese manufacturer has not said when it might start using in-market products.
