How to use the PS4 controller with an Android phone

If you have a modern game controller, you probably already have a usable Bluetooth controller, because most modern consoles either use Bluetooth technology as a standard or include Bluetooth for use with other platforms, and this means that it is possible to use PS4 controllers on Android phone, tablet, or TV, we'll show you how to do it.

How to use the PS4 controller with an Android phone:

  • Make sure that bluetooth is turned on on your Android device by opening Settings and heading to the Bluetooth menu.
  • Make sure the phone is in device scanning mode.
  • Hold down the (PlayStation) button and the share button for a few seconds, as a light on it will start to flash to inform you that it is in pairing mode.
  • Go to the phone again and find a device called (Wireless Controller) in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices, then click on this device to start the pairing process.
  • The light on the control unit should stop and you should get confirmation on your phone that the connection was successful.
  • If everything is done correctly then you are connected, and you can use the unit to navigate the user interface on the Android device that you have paired.

Things may differ in this regard, but you can try your favorite games and see if they present any problems, but ideally, the game will simply allow you to remap all buttons as the emulator does, but this is not the case with most games.

When I did the test, I found that the unit might not behave exactly like the portable unit or even the one in (Xbox One), for example: While I could move my character and turn on the camera in (Modern Combat 5), the aim buttons were replaced by the Share and Options buttons on Straight, this made the unit uncomfortable.

If you have a game that works fine or allows you to remap the buttons, go ahead, but there are controllers that are easier to use, and some controllers, like the Xbox One, seem to be more compatible with Android devices, for this reason, I recommend With an alternate console, such as (Xbox One) or (SteelSeries Stratus Duo) controller. Even if you don't find it useful right away, some popular games like (Fortnite) can offer controller resets in the future, and you'll be glad you already know how to set this up when that day comes.
