Apple may launch the iPhone 12 in South Korea earlier than in previous years, to take advantage of the current 5G services and users in the country.
South Korea is a priority target for the iPhone 12 for Apple, with this year's models going on sale there earlier than usual - or at least at an early time of the launch.
Apple has yet to announce a second major event, but the consensus is that the launch event of the iPhone 12 lineup will take place in October.
According to Jon Prosser, the event could be scheduled for October 13, with the new models rolling out on October 23.
In recent years, Apple launched new iPhone models in South Korea, about a month after they were put up for sale in other countries.
Local communication sources say to the Korea Herald that Apple may launch new models equipped with 5G technology in the country as early as late October or early November.
The Korea Herald adds that South Korea was the first country in the world to commercialize 5G service in 2019.
There are about 8 million (5G) users as of July 2020, compared to about 1.18 million (5G) users across North America by the end of the first quarter of 2020.
In addition, South Korea may be one of the few countries that can access the new iPhone models equipped with the (mmWave).
Reliable analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that all four iPhone 12 models will have 5G compatibility, but only certain countries will get models that support the faster mmWave standard.
According to the Korea Herald, the (iPhone 12) from Apple may also be the first smartphone in the country to support the faster (mmWave) standard, given that this standard is not currently available within any phone that supports 5G networks from Samsung.
Apple is currently the second brand of smartphones in South Korea behind Samsung with a share of 19 percent, while Samsung's share is 67 percent.
