iPhone sales grow 225% in the second quarter of this year in China

During the second quarter of this year, Apple was the fastest growing smartphone sales company in China, with sales growing 225 percent compared to the previous quarter.  These statistics came from CINNO Research which indicated that Apple sold 13 million iPhones in the second quarter of this year, which is an increase of 62 percent compared to the same period last year.

This large increase in sales comes after the iPhone sales fell sharply in February, with shipments only reaching 500 thousand units in China.  Since then, strong sales of iPhone 11 have contributed to improving conditions and recovering.  The new iPhone SE 2020 was among the Apple phones that achieved strong sales, as both phones received special discounts, which boosted their attractiveness with Chinese consumers.

Counterpoint Research also published its report, stating that Apple shipped 7.4 million iPhones in the second quarter of this year.  This represents a 32 percent increase compared to the same period last year.  This number includes iPhones sold to Apple authorized stores.

However, Huawei remains the predominant chinese smartphone market in the second quarter of this year after it successfully shipped 36.6 million smartphones, followed by other Chinese companies, including Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi.  In addition, the entire smartphone market witnessed a 17 percent drop in sales in the second quarter of this year.
